For an exhibition at Atle Gerhardsen in January of 1996, I proposed that I cut down the Christmas Tree for Trafalgar Square in London for 1995*.
After numerous letters and phone calls it was agreed that I help fell the spruce – following a short journey into the snow covered forest outside of Oslo I was handed a large axe and assigned a very tall tree. To document the outcome of this project I ventured down to London to capture the majesty of this public sculpture. On an extremely cold evening between Christmas and New Year, I stood on the steps of the National Gallery with a borrowed VHS camera (stuck on auto focus), no gloves and cold feet. The resulting video footage was not included in the final exhibition – eighteen years later, this edition, is still the only visible material associated this project.

série # 43 (january 2015)
a copy of Richard Hamilton Whitley Bay, 1965/2015
Subscribers
will receive 12 postcards / one per month. The actual postcards will be sent
then from Whitley Bay. The edition consists of 40 signed and numbered sets.
One year subscription: please contact gallery for price
Jonathan Monk's edition project consists of a series of 12 postcards, sent on a monthly basis over the 12 months of 2015. The first card is titled ‘A copy of Richard Hamilton Whitley Bay, 1965’. The following card then is titled ‘Another copy of Richard Hamilton Whitley Bay 1965’, and so on.
Every month, a new reproduction will be added. The first card (to be send by the end of January) shows a reproduction of the original card by Hamilton. The reproduction was made through an analogue photo technique- by use of a traditional medium format camera. The transparency that was made with this camera served as the basis for the first postcard.
Though, by the use of offset printing, each time
the card is reproduced there is a 3 mm bleed (printer's boarder cropping)
that will disappear. By repeating this process 12 times, each reproduction
of the previous card will be more and more in close up.

FATHER AND
SON WALLS, black leatherette folded portfolio case which houses a 30 x 45
cm. colour digitally giclee printed photograph of a work by JONATHNA MONK and in
a small glassine plastic pouch, a die-cut adhesive sticker of an Emoji image of
a duck which can be added to the photograph in any position desired by the
owner, edition 36, signed and numbered certificate, 2018
£ 395,-
£ = British Pound
In 2016 JONATHAN MONK created a work by instruction at lust and the apple in temple, Midlothian Scotland. A father and son bricklaying team were each told to build two walls next to each other utilising 120 bricks for each wall (the same number of bricks as found in the CARL ANDRE equivalence works). That work considers the role of the father-son bond - the bond of both competition and co-operation, learning and new ideas - all distilled in a simple instruction.
Now in a new development of that work, a photograph of MONK's
sculpture has been drawn on by the artist's own son Goldin and the resulting
image (the walls have been covered by a roof with smoke coming out of the
chimney) is a further father and son production.
In addition a duck Emoji adhesive sticker has been supplied as a removable
addition (at the request of Goldin) to allow the owner of the photograph to
further customise the image.
The Surprise, found 7 inch single 45rpm record with specially printed label and white cover, edition 100, signed and numbered by Monk in pencil on the white outer cover. Each record is obviously unique within the edition, 2005
please contact gallery for price
The record is one of 100 different pop singles mostly from the 1980s - with some of the records by well known artists and others not. The re-labelling of the record by Monk means that the purchaser will not know what the original record is (unless they recognise it or do some research) - thus the 'surprise'.

Tandberg is best known for her intense photography and 16mm films, which tease our perception of what is, or could be, real.
Carlos Amorales, Mambo 4' 44", 2001
Amorales has been addressing issues of identity by developing a multi-layered
transcultural, inter-urban artistic game that re-activates one of the most
